What is MyFridays?

MyFridays is a weekly giving platform that allows you to support charitable causes every Friday through small, consistent donations. Your donations are taken at the Hour of Acceptance every Friday.

Rather than making one-off donations, MyFridays helps you build a habit of giving — spreading impact over time while keeping your giving manageable and intentional.

Is MyFridays a registered charity?

No. MyFridays is operated by The Shamaazi Project Ltd, a private limited company dedicated to building technology that transforms how Muslims give and how charities raise funds.

When you donate through MyFridays, your donation is processed and held by our donor-advised fund (DAF) partners, which consider your recommendation and, in accordance with their grant-making policies and legal obligations, make grants to eligible charitable organisations. This provides an additional layer of financial oversight and helps ensure funds are applied to legitimate charitable purposes.

How long has MyFridays been around?

Since 2016, we have been dedicated to our mission of making a positive impact. Over the years, we have raised approximately $100 million for 250 charities worldwide, thanks to the generous contributions of over 200,000 donors like you. In Ramadan 2024, we introduced MyFridays to empower you to make a difference every Friday, enabling us to support even more charities and causes around the globe.

Who operates MyFridays?

MyFridays is run by The Shamaazi Project Ltd. We operate a collection of intelligent giving platforms that are designed to ensure you never miss the moments that matter most - whether it's Laylatul Qadr(MyTenNights), the blessed days of Dhul Hijjah (MyTenDays), Jumu'ah (MyFridays), or your daily sadaqah (MyDailyGiving).

Setting up your donation

How can I set up my donation?

You can easily set up your donation by visiting our donation page here. Follow the simple steps provided to complete the process securely.

Can I donate over the phone?

For security and accuracy, all donations must be set up through our secure online platform. We cannot process donations over the phone.

What payment methods does MyTenDays accept?

We accept:- Major debit and credit cards- Apple Pay- Google Pay
We're continuously working to add more payment options to improve your donation experience.

What time does MyFridays process donations?

We process each donation shortly before Maghreb in your local time, every Friday.

What happens if my donation is rejected?

We'll promptly notify you via email if your payment is rejected. You can easily retry the payment by logging into your Donor Dashboard

Fees, Tips, and Where Your Money Goes

Does MyFridays deduct anything from my donation?

No. Ordinarily, we do not take a cut of your donation. 100% of your donation is directed to our DAF partner (minus standard third-party payment processing fees). The DAF then makes grants to charities in line with donor recommendations and its charitable obligations. In some cases, additional allocations may apply within the charitable structure in connection with fundraising and grant-making. You can read more about our fees in our Donation Policy page.

During checkout, you have the option to cover these third-party processing fees so that your full donation amount reaches the DAF. If you choose not to cover them, they will be deducted from your donation. (see Transaction Fee FAQ below)

What is the Transaction Fee at checkout?

This is our estimate of third-party card processing fees for your country and payment method (typically 1-3%). Covering this fee is optional and can be removed before checkout.

‍Important: If you remove the transaction fee, it will be deducted from your total donation, reducing the amount the charity receives.

‍Example:
- If you cover the fee: Charity receives your full donation amount
- If you don't cover the fee: Charity receives your donation minus ~1-3%

What is the MyFridays Tip?

The tip is a completely optional contribution that supports the ongoing operation and development of the MyFridays platform. You can decrease, increase, or remove it entirely at your discretion.

How is MyFridays funded?

MyFridays operates through voluntary donor tips and charity subscription fees paid by partner charities from their operational budgets, never from your donations unless under exceptional circumstances agreed upon with the charity and our DAF. While donor tips and charity subscriptions are the primary sources of funding, additional fees or allocations may arise within the charitable structure in connection with fundraising and grant-making, subject to DAF oversight.

This model ensures 100% of your donation (minus third-party payment processing fees) is received by our DAF partner, which will ordinarily make grants in line with donor recommendations and its charitable obligations. For complete transparency about our funding model, read more here.

Where does my donation go and who handles it?

Your donation is not received or held by MyTen directly. It is processed via our payment partners to our DAF partner, which holds and administers the funds.Here's the complete journey:
1. From your bank → Payment processor (we use Stripe) → our DAF partner
‍2. The DAF holds and manages your donation
3. The DAF grants your donation to charities and causes in line with your intent and Shamaazi recommendations subject to DAF grant-making process.

Can I donate if I live outside the UK, US, Canada, or Australia?

Yes! You can donate from anywhere in the world. Your donation will be processed in the native currency of the charity you're supporting (GBP for UK charities, USD for US charities, etc.).

Why is my donation processed in a different currency than my location?

All donations are processed in the native currency of the recipient charity to ensure efficient fund transfer. For UK charities, donations process in GBP; for US charities, USD, and so forth.

Where does my donation go if I select to give to the option to "Spread Your Donation" ?

This multi-charity option distributes your donation among verified partner charities that have consistently demonstrated the highest levels of clarity, transparency, accountability, and impact.

How do I know my money actually reaches the charity?

MyFridays operates with complete transparency. If you would like to find out more about your donation, you can:
- Verify with charities directly that they received your donation (Please note this is only possible if you have opted-in to be contacted directly by the charity)
- Review our annual impact reports
- Request direct contact with your chosen charity through our Donor Care team

Can I donate on behalf of someone else (e.g., my mother)?

Absolutely! Simply make the intention for the person you wish to donate on behalf of and complete the donation process. The rewards will go to them, insha'Allah.

Managing Your Donations

How do I track my MyFridays donations?

Access your personal Donor Dashboard:
1. Visit myfridays.com and click "Login"
2. Enter the email address you submitting when you made your donation
3. You'll receive a one-time passcode via email
4. Enter the passcode to view:
- Your donation schedule
- Processed payments
- Failed transactions
- Exact processing times after sunset each night
- Other ways to give

Why don't my bank transactions show on the correct dates?

Payment processing times vary by bank. While Myfridays processes donations weekly at the hour of Mahgreb, your bank may take 1-5 working days to display transactions on your statement. Some banks show all transactions on the same day even though they occurred on different nights.

‍Rest assured: Your donations are processed at the correct time each Friday, even if your bank statement shows them differently.

I didn't receive my confirmation email or friday receipt. What should I do?

First, check your spam/junk folder - emails sometimes land there. If you still can't find it, contact our Donor Care team at contact@myfridays.com and we'll resend it immediately.

What happens if my payment is rejected or fails?

We'll notify you immediately via email if a payment fails. You can easily retry the payment by logging into your Donor Dashboard. and updating your payment information.

How do I edit my MyFridays donation or schedule?

Once a schedule is created, you cannot edit it directly. To make changes before your first payment:
1. Log into your Donor Dashboard
2. Cancel your existing schedule
3. Create a new schedule with your updated preferences

You can pause or cancel your donation within your Donor Dashboard at any time.

How do I cancel my MyFridays donation?

Log into your Donor Dashboard where you can cancel your schedule at any time. Once cancelled, no further payments will be processed.

How do I reactivate a cancelled donation?

Log into your Donor Dashboard and select the option to reactivate your schedule. Your donations will resume according to your original schedule.

Can I get a refund on my MyFridays donation?

If you believe a donation was made in error, contact our Donor Care team at contact@myfridays.com as soon as possible.

Important: Refunds are not guaranteed. Requests made within 7 days may be considered, but after this window, refunds are at the discretion of our DAF partners and recipient charities.

What is my MyFridays password

MyFridays doesn't use traditional passwords. Instead, we use secure one-time passcodes:

2. You'll receive a unique passcode via email3. Enter the passcode to access your dashboard

‍Note: Passcodes expire after 15 minutes and can only be used once for security.

GiftAid and Tax Receipts

Do MyFridays donations qualify for UK Gift Aid?

Yes! Donations made through MyFridays to UK charities qualify for Gift Aid, allowing charities to claim an additional 25p for every £1 you donate at no cost to you.

‍Note: Voluntary tips to MyTenDays do not qualify for Gift Aid as we are a limited company, not a charity.

Are MyFridays donations tax-deductible in the USA, Canada, and Australia?

Donations made through a locally registered DAF entity in the USA, Canada, or Australia may qualify for tax deductibility in accordance with applicable local requirements. Donors should seek independent tax advice where appropriate

How do I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Yes. You should receive your tax receipt before the end of the tax year without needing to take further action.

‍Important: Tax receipts are issued by our DAF partner (not Shamaazi directly) because your donation was received by the DAF and will ordinarily make grants in line with donor recommendations and its charitable obligations.

Evergive and MyFridays

What is Evergive and how does it work?

Evergive is an initiative designed to help charities build long-term financial resilience through a pooled charitable reserve programme operated via our Donor Advised Fund (DAF) partner.

When you opt in to Evergive while donating on MyTenDays, your contribution becomes part of a structured reserve that is used to support ongoing discretionary grants to charities over time.
‍
Rather than focusing only on one-off impact, this model seeks to provide sustainable grant support to charities, helping them plan for the future and strengthen their long-term capacity.
‍
Evergive is inspired by the concept of sadaqah jariyah — charity that continues to benefit others over time. The goal is to create lasting impact in a responsibly governed and transparent way.
‍
Grant distributions are overseen by independent trustees and managed with care, prudence and long-term sustainability in mind. While distributions depend on overall reserve performance and cannot be guaranteed, the programme is structured to provide steady, ongoing support to charities intended to provide ongoing support over time. Evergive shares regular updates so you can see how funds are being responsibly stewarded and distributed.

Why choose Evergive instead of a one-off donation?

Traditional donations provide immediate impact. Evergive is designed to complement this by supporting charities with recurring grant income over time, helping strengthen their long-term resilience and planning capacity.

Is Evergive the same as a waqf?

Evergive is inspired by the concept of waqf and sadaqah jariyah — creating lasting charitable benefit. However, it operates through a modern charitable structure (a Donor Advised Fund) rather than a traditional waqf trust.

Is Evergive an investment?

No. Evergive is not an investment product and does not create a personal investment account.

Donations made through Evergive are charitable contributions received through an independent Donor Advised Fund (DAF). Grants are made at trustee discretion and are intended to provide sustainable support to charities over time. There are no guaranteed returns.

Is Evergive eligible for Zakat?

We leave this at the discretion of the donor. If a donor wishes for their Zakat to create perpetual income in this way, we will honour it. Our view is that Evergive can be used for Zakat where funds are designated as Zakat, deployed in accordance with Shamaazi’s Zakat Policy, and advances the well-being of our community.

Zakat funds are treated as religiously restricted funds and are allocated exclusively to eligible beneficiaries in line with Islamic principles. Where long-term or structured deployment mechanisms are used, beneficiaries will be clearly defined and funds irrevocably allocated for their benefit.

If you are giving Zakat, please ensure you select the appropriate designation during your donation.

Can I cancel or amend my monthly donation?

Yes. Your monthly donation can be amended or cancelled at any time through your MyFridays account settings.

Security & Privacy

Is my payment information secure on MyFridays?

Yes. We take security seriously and meet EU PSD2 security standards. All payments are processed through Stripe, a leading secure payment provider. We do not store any card details on our database.‍

Is my personal data safe with MyFridays?

Is Evergive the same as a waqf?

Can I remain anonymous when donating through MyFridays?

All donations are anonymous to the public. You need to provide:

- Your name to validate your payment card
- Your email address to create your account and so that we can send you payment receipts
- Your address so that we can process Gift Aid or tax receipts

‍Charity visibility: Charities only receive your full details if you explicitly opt in to share them during checkout.

Will MyFridays pass my data to charities?

Only if you tell us to by ticking the opt-in box during checkout. We never pass your personal data such as your name and address to charities without your explicit consent.

‍Exception: A small number of charities that pass our enhanced vetting may receive donor names for legitimate record-keeping purposes. These charities sign our data sharing agreement, which strictly prohibits them from contacting you or using your data for anything beyond essential administration.

Will MyFridays sell or trade my personal data?
