Fees and Charges

How much of each donation reaches the charity

Shamaazi is the fundraising platform of Triple Q which works with independent Donor Advised Fund (DAF) partners in each of the countries where our products operate. The Donor Advised Fund (DAF) partners are responsible for receiving charitable donations, administering charitable funds, carrying out appropriate due diligence, claiming Gift Aid or equivalent tax relief where applicable, and making grants in accordance with their charitable objects and legal obligations.

When you donate through MyGiving or one of our products, including MyTenNights, MyTenDays, MyFridays and MyFajr, your donation is processed directly to one of our independent Donor Advised Fund (DAF) partners.

Where possible, grants are made in line with donor recommendations, the DAF's charitable objects and applicable legal obligations.

What You Pay And What The Charity Receives

A fundraising fee applies to donations made through our platforms. This section sets out what those fees are, how they are calculated, and how much of your donation reaches charitable causes.

Worked example: a £10 donation, excluding Gift Aid

Your donation: £10.00
Optional donor tip, chosen by you and set to £0.00 in this example: £0.00
Payment processing fee charged by our payment provider, which you can choose to cover: £0.51
Fundraising fee paid to Triple Q by our Donor Advised Fund partner, calculated at 15% of your donation: £1.50

Amount available to the charitable fund: £7.99

Gift Aid – UK Donations Only

Gift Aid is a UK tax relief and applies only to eligible UK donations.

Gift Aid is worth 25p for every £1 you donate, so £2.50 on a £10 donation. Where you make an eligible UK donation and provide a valid Gift Aid declaration, Gift Aid is claimed by The Forever Trust as our UK Donor Advised Fund partner.

You are responsible for confirming that you and your donation meet the applicable Gift Aid eligibility requirements and that your declaration is truthful, accurate and complete.

The administration and subsequent treatment of Gift Aid following a claim is at the discretion of The Forever Trust and may depend on how the associated donation is administered.

What charities pay

  • Setup costs: there is no charge to a charity for setting up an account with us.
  • Cost per month: there is no monthly or annual subscription charge.
  • Fundraising fee: 15% of donations made through our platforms, paid to Triple Q by our Donor Advised Fund partner.
  • Charity service fee: where a charity receives grants through our platforms, we may invoice that charity separately for fundraising services. The applicable service fee varies depending on the charity's commercial tier, donation route and/or product.

Where you will find this information

A link to this Fees & Charges page appears in the footer of our sites so that you can understand how our fees and funding model work.

Where a donor is going to make a donation, the applicable solicitation statement is displayed at the point of donation, in accordance with the relevant fundraising requirements.

Solicitation Statement – United Kingdom

For UK fundraising conducted for the benefit of The Forever Trust, the following solicitation statement applies:

Your donation is secure and goes to support the charitable purposes of our DAF Partner, The Forever Trust, a registered charity in England and Wales (number 1212783). If you express a preference in where your donation is used, The Forever Trust's trustees will take this into account.

This fundraising campaign is conducted by TripleQ Corporation ('TripleQ') for the benefit of The Forever Trust. As remuneration for its fundraising services TripleQ receives 15% of donations received. The remaining 85% of your donation is passed to The Forever Trust. So, for example, out of a donation of £10.00, £8.50 goes to The Forever Trust.

How Our Funding Model Works

Across our platforms, charitable donations are received directly into an independent Donor Advised Fund (DAF).

This means:

  • Shamaazi does not receive or hold charitable donations.
  • Donations are administered independently by our DAF partner.
  • Grants are made by the DAF in accordance with its charitable purposes, grant-making policies and applicable legal obligations.

Two deductions apply to your donation: the fundraising fee paid to Triple Q by our Donor Advised Fund partner, calculated as 15% of your donation, and the payment processing fee charged by your payment provider (for example, Stripe). Before completing your donation you will have the option to cover the payment processing cost yourself.

Our Donor Advised Fund partner pays Triple Q for fundraising services under the applicable fundraising agreement. Those payments are calculated as a percentage of donations made through our platforms. Where a charity receives grants through our platforms, we may also invoice that charity separately for fundraising services.

You can read more about what a Donor Advised Fund is and how we work with our DAF partners here.

How Shamaazi Sustains Itself

Developing and operating secure fundraising technology requires ongoing investment in engineering, customer support, compliance, security and product development.

Across MyGiving and our giving products, including MyTenNights, MyTenDays, MyFridays and MyFajr, the platform is funded through two primary sources:

Voluntary Donor Tips

When making a donation, you may choose to leave a voluntary tip to support the continued development and operation of our platform.

Donor tips are:

  • entirely optional;
  • adjustable to zero before you complete your donation, with the zero option shown as prominently as any other and available without clicking through to a further screen;
  • paid directly to Shamaazi; and
  • separate from your charitable donation.

Choosing not to leave a tip will never affect your ability to donate.

Fundraising Technology & Services

Shamaazi provides the fundraising platform and technology through which donors access our giving products.

Triple Q has fundraising agreements with our Donor Advised Fund partners. Under those agreements, the DAF pays Triple Q for fundraising services.

These fees are calculated as a percentage of the donations made through our platforms. They are set out in full in the worked example above.

Why Charities Work With Us

Charities use the Shamaazi platform because our technology helps them reach more supporters, improve donor retention, automate giving experiences and reduce the cost of fundraising.

Many charities view these services in the same way they would other fundraising investments, such as donor management software, advertising campaigns or fundraising events.

Our objective is to help charities build sustainable fundraising programmes that encourage long-term giving rather than relying solely on seasonal campaigns.

What This Means For You

When you donate through one of our products:

  • your donation is paid directly to our independent DAF partner;
  • a payment processing fee applies, which varies with your chosen payment method;
  • you can choose whether or not to cover that payment processing fee;
  • leaving a voluntary donor tip is entirely your choice; and
  • a fundraising fee of 15% of your donation is paid to Triple Q by our Donor Advised Fund partner, as set out in the worked example above.

Our aim is to ensure donors understand how their donation is handled before completing their gift.

Islamic Perspective

Islamically, charities are permitted to spend reasonable amounts on administration, fundraising and operational costs where these activities enable them to deliver greater charitable impact.

Our model has been designed to support these principles by ensuring:

  • charitable donations are administered independently through our Donor Advised Fund partner;
  • donors understand how their donation is handled before giving;
  • charities retain control over their fundraising and operational budgets;
  • donors are able to make informed choices about the charities they support; and
  • investment in fundraising technology helps charities build more sustainable long-term income.
